“ Tried the Vegetarian Bagel with spinach, avocado, and fried egg, along with Avocado & Poached Egg on Sourdough with hash browns—everything was fresh and delicious! The Americano with oat milk, Latte, and the brownie were the perfect finish. Amazing taste all around and totally worth visiting! ”
“ We had walked to Dean Village and on our way back to our Airbnb we found this restaurant and it was so delicious! It was a cold day so their chicken noodle soup was perfect! Honestly one of the best soups I've had and still think about it! ”
“ really great little cafe, and lovely rooster decor everywhere! i had zurek, and my friend had a lentil soup, and both were great and kept us full till dinner! ”
“ During our trip we had a breakfast here and I love it. We had your own full breakfast. The vegan haggis(I am not vegan) and both sausages were excellent. The coffee was good. If it was for me I would only go there for breakfast until our trip ends. Thats all there to say it really. ”
“ are first visit to Edinburg and Rooster rest food are out of your mind very friendly atmosphere worth visiting and waiting for table 5 not enough i’m going for 10 to bad we are leaving tomorrow am highly recommended ”
“ Lovely little place that serves a variety of breakfast foods. It is quite small, and the entrance is narrow but you can get a pushchair through. There is an outdoor table. When you walk in, you go downstairs to be served. There is seating downstairs, it's quite squishy. You can order at the counter and you can also takeaway food. We ordered takeaway; a breakfast roll and a bagel. The avocado and cream cheese bagel was nice, generous amount of both ingredients. We waited at the top of the stairs and it took about 10 minutes to get the food. There is more seating upstairs. The place gets very busy especially around a late morning time, so 11am onwards is not as congested. It is slightly costly, it cost us 18 for those two things. ”
“ We had no wait to be seated, despite small, packed restaurant. Did not feel crowded, just that we must have hit upon a great place! First experience of haggis was here--loved it, and the coffee. You could miss this place if you're not looking for it, but you don't want to miss it. Great breakfast before a day about Edinburgh! ”
“ A slow morning well spent at The Painted Rooster. Perfectly poached eggs on creamy avocado toast, rich cappuccino with a touch of cocoa, and the kind of cozy, book-lined charm that makes you want to linger. It’s the kind of place that feels like a hug in cafe form. ”
